Make authentic Nuttikrust Copycat Biscuits with this foolproof recipe. Packed with rich traditional flavor, step-by-step photos, and cooking tips by Denisiya on EatMee Recipes.

Nuttikrust Copycat Biscuits are my alternative of the original Bakers Nuttikrust Biscuits (Cookies). These are a childhood favourite with that irresistible crunch to it. Having a blend of oats & caramel, this makes an awesome snack for everyone at any time of day.
Being South African, these biscuits are a must have in every household. I was craving these biscuits & decided why not try my baking skills in the kitchen & so I worked up this amazing recipe which tastes just like the original biscuits.
Firstly, preheat oven to 180° Celsius or 356° Fahrenheit.
Line a baking tray with baking or parchment paper & set aside.

Make sure that the butter or margarine is at room temperature.

Place the oats into a blender.

Add the desiccated coconut to the oats.

Blend until fine, like a powder consistency – there may be few that won’t crush but that is fine.

Add the butter or margarine to a mixing bowl.

Add in the castor sugar.

Using an electric mixer or wooden spoon & cream together.

Next, add in the vegetable oil, caramel essence & the golden syrup.

Mix well.

Thereafter, add in the flour.

Add in the milk powder.

Add in the salt, baking powder & the bicarbonate of soda.

Finally. add the blended oats & coconut mixture.

Use a spoon & combine all the ingredients.

Thereafter, use your hands & bring the mixture together to form a biscuit (cookie) dough.

Pinch off small pieces of the dough.

Roll into a ball between your palms & then roll into a log.

Place onto the prepared baking tray & flatten slightly.

Place the tray into the preheated oven & bake for 15 minutes until golden.

Carefully transfer the biscuits onto a cooling rack. It will be tender & soft, but once cooled it will retain it’s shape & become crunchy.

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 to 2 weeks. For milk-based sweetmeats like burfee or soji, refrigerate in an airtight container for up to 7 to 10 days.
Pure butter or ghee provides the authentic rich aroma and texture characteristic of traditional Indian sweetmeats and bakes. Margarine can be used in a pinch, but butter delivers superior flavor.

Hi Can these be made into rusks as well?
Hi..can I use Ghee in place of butter and use honey or maple syrup in place of the golden syrup..
Hi, thank you so much.
Will try soon.
Professional instructions with photos just excellent.
Another recipe suggests roasting the oats for about 5 minutes.
Thank you Mary. I do not roast the oats first as I try to make my recipes as simple as possible…I find they taste just as good without being roasted.
