This Recipe Makes ± 28 Biscuits

These Flake Biscuits / Cookies are simply irresistible. They are a perfect treat any time of day & look very similar to the Cadbury Flake chocolate, hence the name.

Flake Biscuits are molded to look like the Flake chocolate & covered in delicious milk chocolate for that extra richness & finally topped with crumbled Flake. This is also a great bake to gift someone & also perfect for those Eid & Diwali/Deepavali parcels.

    Step 10 visual guide
  11. Step 11

Next, using your fingers, crumble one Cadbury Flake Chocolate into the mixture.

    Step 11 visual guide
  12. Step 12

Thereafter, add in the all purpose flour.

    Step 12 visual guide
  13. Step 13

Mix well until a dough forms.

    Step 13 visual guide
  14. Step 14

Place the dough onto a big sheet of wax paper.

  15. Step 15

Place another sheet of wax paper over the dough.

  16. Step 16

Using a rolling pin, roll out the dough.

    Step 16 visual guide
  17. Step 17

Make sure not to roll it out too thin. There should be about 5 centimeter thickness.

    Step 17 visual guide
  18. Step 18

Remove the top sheet of wax paper.

    Step 18 visual guide
  19. Step 19

    Step 22 visual guide
  23. Step 23

Take one of the cut out dough segments & mold it in your hands, similarly as the Flake Chocolate would look. Once shaped, I like to take the fork once again & roughly scrape onto the dough to give it that more crumbly look. Thereafter, place them onto the wax or baking paper in the baking tray.

    Step 23 visual guide
  24. Step 24

Bake them for 10 minutes at 180° Celsius.

    Step 25 visual guide
  26. Step 26

In the time being, if you have more to bake, place them in the oven. Once all the biscuits are cooled then move on to the next step.

  27. Step 27

Place the Cadbury Dairy Milk Chocolate into a heat resistant bowl.

    Step 27 visual guide
  28. Step 28

Microwave the chocolate for 30 seconds.

    Step 28 visual guide
  29. Step 29

Using a clean, dry spoon, mix the chocolate.

    Step 29 visual guide
  30. Step 30

If the chocolate still isn’t fully melted, place it back into the microwave for another 30 seconds.

    Step 30 visual guide
  31. Step 31

Mix again & this time it should all be melted.

    Step 31 visual guide
  32. Step 32

Next, place some wax paper or news paper under the cooling rack & using a spoon or small pouring glass, drizzle the melted chocolate over the cooled biscuits. Make sure to drizzle the chocolate in the directions of the engraved lines on the biscuits (vertically).

    Step 32 visual guide
  33. Step 33

Crumble the other flake into a bowl.

    Step 33 visual guide
  34. Step 34

Sprinkle the crumble Flake over the melted chocolate on the biscuits.

Frequently Asked Questions & Cooking Tips

Expert kitchen guidance and troubleshooting for making the best Flake Biscuits

How should I store Flake Biscuits to maintain freshness?

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 to 2 weeks. For milk-based sweetmeats like burfee or soji, refrigerate in an airtight container for up to 7 to 10 days.

Can I substitute butter with margarine or oil?

Pure butter or ghee provides the authentic rich aroma and texture characteristic of traditional Indian sweetmeats and bakes. Margarine can be used in a pinch, but butter delivers superior flavor.
