SAUSAGE WITH BAKED BEANS CURRY
This Indian Recipe Serves 2-3
Sausage With Baked Beans Curry is usually prepared without any Indian spices. In South Africa, this dish is made with spices to create a heat wave in the meal. This meal can be served throughout the day.
Baked beans is a dish containing beans, in some cases baked, regardless of the name, generally stewed, in a sauce. Most commercially canned baked beans are produced using haricot beans, otherwise called naval force beans – an assortment of Phaseolus vulgaris in a sauce. In Ireland & the United Kingdom, a tomato sauce is most generally utilized, & they are regularly eaten on toast or as a feature of a full English, Scottish or Irish Breakfast.
Canned baked beans are utilized as a convenience food. They might be eaten hot or cold straight from the can as they are completely cooked.
A sausage is a cylinderical shaped meat item typically produced using ground meat, frequently pork, hamburger, or veal, alongside salt, spices & different flavorings, & breadcrumbs, with a skin around it. Normally, a sausage is framed in a packaging customarily produced using digestive tract, yet in some cases from synthethic materials. Sausages that are sold uncooked are typically cooked from numerous points of view, including sautéing, searing & grilling.
Sausage With Baked Beans Curry Ingredients:
- 6-8 sausages of your choice (I have used spicy mutton sausages)
- 1 teaspoon ginger & garlic paste
- 1 tablespoon chilli powder
- ½ teaspoon dhania (coriander) powder
- ½ teaspoon red chilli flakes (optional)
- salt to taste
- 1 onion, chopped
- ¼ teaspoon jeera (cumin) powder
- 1 sprig curry leaves
- 2 tomatoes
- vegetable oil
- 1 sprig thyme
- 3 green chillies
- 1 can baked beans
- fresh dhania (coriander) for garnishing
Method:
- Place sausages into a pan.
- Pour in a little water.
- Cover with a lid & allow the sausages to steam on medium heat.
- After aa few minutes, the water should be boiling around the sausages. Keep an eye on it as you do not want the water to overflow. As soon as you notice the water boiling over, carefully lift the lid to allow some of the steam to escape & secure the lid back on. Keep watching it until the water has evaporated.
- After 5 minutes, flip the sausages over so that the other side can steam.
- Once the water has dried up in the pan, add 1 ½ tablespoons of vegetable oil & allow the sausages to fry & become golden.
- Once the sausages have fried on both sides, turn off the heat.
- Remove sausages from the pan & set onto a plate or board.
- Cut the sausages into smaller sections & set aside until ready to use.
- Peel & chop the onion. Set aside.
- Rinse & slit green chillies. More or less chillies may be added, according to your preference.
- Rinse tomatoes.
- Either dice the tomatoes or blend it as I have done.
- In a medium sized pot, pour in the vegetable oil & add in the onions, green chillies, thyme & curry leaves.
- Thereafter, add in the ginger & garlic paste.
- Mix well & allow to simmer until the onions become translucent.
- Add in the jeera (cumin) powder, dhania (coriander) powder, red chilli flakes (optional) & the chilli powder.
- Mix well & simmer for 30 seconds.
- Add in the tomatoes.
- Mix well & simmer until the tomatoes have melted.
- Once the tomatoes have cooked, add in the sausages.
- Next, add in the baked beans.
- I have used the Koo brand but you may use whichever brand you desire.
- Add salt to taste & mix well.
- Allow to simmer for 5-10 minutes so that the flavours can infuse together. Add water only if necessary.
- Turn off the heat & garnish with fresh dhania (coriander).
