Make authentic Instant Pot Duo Smart Cooker 8L with this foolproof recipe. Packed with rich traditional flavor, step-by-step photos, and cooking tips by Denisiya on EatMee Recipes.

If you are an Instant Pot lover, it’s time to get excited because the new Instant Pot Instant Pot Duo Smart Cooker 8L just launched in South Africa in March 2020.

The real question is – “Is the Instant Pot 8L Worth It?”
Well, if you have a big family or just like cooking larger quantities, then yes, the Instant Pot 8L is worth having! It’s even great if you like doing meal preps & constantly make broth or stock.
If you already have the 6L Instant Pot, I definitely know that you are addicted to using it – so why not add to that collection? I already have the 6L & having the 8L just makes me feel complete, as well as knowing I can now have both of them cooking up meals in no time – especially if I’m having company over.

Here are a few comparisons between the 6 Litre Instant Pot & the 8 Litre Instant Pot to help you with your hesitancy of purchasing the new 8 Litre.
The obvious fact is that the 6L is smaller yet can fit a whole chicken. It’s ideal for cooking meals that will serve up to 4 people. The 8L however, is much larger. You will most probably be able to fit a whole turkey into it. The 8L is perfect for cooking meals for more than 4 people.

The 6 Litre does have a quicker time to come to pressure than the 8 Litre because the 8L can hold in more food – more space, more time is needed to come to pressure.

On both the 6L & the 8L control panel, they have the exact same functions.

The power cord on the 6L & on the 8L is the same length unlike most of them sold in other countries, whereby the cords differ in length.

The condensation collector is exactly the same size on both Instant Pots.

Floating valve on the 6L is silver & on the 8L it is red.

The trivets are slightly different, as the 6L handles fold inter-lapping each other but on the 8L it is more elevated & the handles can stand when opened.

Both Instant Pots do differentiate in price with the 8L obviously being more pricier than the 6L, but hey it can hold in more food!
